The HRLF September program will be presented by Dr. Greg Reilly, Associate Professor of Management, Academic Director of Graduate Programs in Human Resources at UConn. We will have the unique opportunity to learn how to become “HR Scientists.”  The focus of Dr. Reilly’s presentation will demonstrate how we, as HR leaders, can apply the principles used by scientists to improve the quality of our thinking about managing people and the HR function. Key learning will include how to:
  • Be Skeptical - Ask More (& Better) Questions
  • Build Models of the World
  • Incorporate Experiences to Judge Models
  • Envision How Things Might Work Differently
  • Run Valid Tests
  • Be a Discerning Consumer of HR Thinking

About the Presenter:

Greg Reilly is Associate Professor of Management at the University of Connecticut School of Business. Greg earned his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin, and his MBA and BA Mathematics from the University of Michigan. Greg teaches the integrative strategy classes at UConn and is Academic Director for the School's Graduate Programs in Human Resource Management. Greg is active in executive training and has led courses on developing strategy, performance measurement, strategic human resources and strategic financial management throughout the United States and in Hong Kong and Riga, Latvia. Greg has led executive classes for managers from manufacturing, services, healthcare, government professional services and non-profit arts organizations. Greg's research activities are focused on human capital as firm resources, teams and the role of time in strategic management research. His work has been published in numerous top tier academic journals and highlighted in the Harvard Business Review. Greg provides development and consulting services to a broad range of organizations. Current and past clients include General Dynamics, GE Energy, Caterpillar, Travelers, University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center, Kelly Services Inc., Electronic Data Systems, BHP Steel, Carhartt, Inc., Peterbilt Motors Co., and Ballantyne Strong Co.
