About the Session:

 

The theme for the 2019 Human Resources Leadership Forum programming is Reimagine.  Our first session of the year will focus on holding a mirror up to HR and taking a good look.  We have invited a diverse panel to spark insights about the state of HR (e.g., what are the challenges, what is working, what can HR let go of, what can HR do better).  In addition to the facilitated panel discussion, you will have an opportunity to discuss HR and its future in small groups as well as ask each other and panelists thought-provoking questions.  After the program, you are invited to continue the conversation and network.

 

 

Participants will:

  • Hear how HR is perceived from unique perspectives that we haven’t heard from recently
  • Learn where HR colleagues are reimagining role of HR in an evolving environment
  • Gain insight into the skills needed to be successful in the future

 

Meet Our Panelists...

 

Ted DeSantos, Senior Vice President & Community Development Business Line Leader, Fuss & O’Neill

 

 

 

 

 

 

At Fuss & O’Neill, a 330-person engineering firm with offices in all New England states, Ted manages a small team of senior technical experts working in business development, and large project execution.  Ted has been employed at Fuss & O’Neill for 21 years and managed the Transportation and Structures Business Unit including 30+ staff and the $4.5 million annual P&L operation from 2007-2013.  He has been an owner since 2008, and served on the Board of Directors from 2010-2018.  One of his favorite Board tasks was serving on the Nominating Committee, which identifies, evaluates, and sponsors candidates for ownership of the firm.  Ted is passionate about the need for diversity among the employee population, leadership team, and the ownership as he believes that there is incredible strength in diversity of ideas, experience, and personalities.  During his tenure, the firm welcomed our first female owner, and the first owners from our Corporate Services group (Human Resources, and Marketing/Business Development). 

Ted’s strengths are client service, communication, and facilitating collaboration among public, private, and community stakeholders.  He has a well-rounded skill set in transportation engineering, and civil engineering of urban development.  Ted is an advocate for smart growth and sustainable transportation.  He has served on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Main Street Center, a statewide non-profit catalyzing our downtowns since 2010.  Ted also serves on the Board of Directors for the New England Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and is a two time past President of the Connecticut Chapter of ITE.  He is a past recipient of the New England ITE Transportation Engineer of the Year Award, and the Connecticut Transportation Achievement Award.

 

Sandra St Fleur, Consultant with Employee Performance and Organizational Development Expertise

   

For the past 15 years, Sandra has helped business leaders build the capacity for collaboration in order to produce extraordinary results, improve critical business processes, eliminate waste within systems, create trusting work relationships, and maintain a culture of mutuality and inclusion.  During the span of her career, Sandra has provided management consulting services to companies ranging in size and complexity from GE Capital to Habitat for Humanity.

For several years, Sandra worked with leaders in the healthcare and government sectors of over 40 countries, many of which designated post conflict or emerging economies, to help them design and practice management and leadership practices that fit within their country and cultural context.  Sandra also worked as the Director of Performance and Quality Management at Partners Healthcare System where she was responsible for the performance measures of 97 hospitals across 12 geographic regions in Massachusetts.

Most recently, Sandra was the Director of Strategic Talent Management for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where she ensured that MIT’s 15,000 employees are skilled, motivated, and prepared to support the Institute’s strategic and operational goals.  In the face of increasing competition for talent, particularly in the innovation hubs that are Cambridge and Boston, Sandra also led the Institute’s effort to brand MIT as the employer of choice for attracting and retaining world-class talent.  Sandra holds an MBA in Global Leadership and Innovation, a Master's Degree in Organizational Development, and a Master’s Degree in English.

 

Autumn Struk, Senior Project Lead, Aetna

 

Autumn has seventeen years’ experience working at Aetna.  As a Senior Project Lead in the Medical Policy and Program Support, (MPPS) Organization and leads vendor implementations and ABX projects.  Autumn held a variety of supervisor & Quality/PM positions across Aetna.  Prior experience includes six years in the US Airforce serving with the 103rd Bradley ANG.  Autumn serves as a volunteer and President on a local school’s PTO and has held secretary and vice-president roles prior.  She graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a B.A. in English Education.
